Roadside Strange is intended for adults age 18 and older. Ordinary browsing does not require a contributor account. Account features such as comments and community submissions require sign-in.
1. Information stored on your device
Roadside Strange may store app preferences and activity locally on your device, including theme choice, saved cases, Found/check-in history, road-trip lists, filter choices and safety acknowledgements. Local information is not automatically sent to Roadside Strange merely because it exists on your device.
2. Location
If you grant location permission, Roadside Strange can use your device location to show cases near you, support Follow Me or similar map features, and help with exploration and routing. Location permission can be denied or changed in your device settings. Roadside Strange does not require continuous background location for ordinary browsing.
3. Contributor accounts
When you create or use an account, authentication information such as your email address and account identifier may be processed through Firebase Authentication. A nickname or other limited profile information may be stored for community features. Passwords are handled by the authentication provider rather than being stored in readable form by Roadside Strange.
4. Comments and community submissions
If you comment or submit a case, Roadside Strange may store the content you provide, your account identifier or nickname, timestamps, moderation status, and location information associated with the submitted case. Submissions are reviewed before publication. Public comments or approved community material may be visible to other users.
5. Advertising
The free version of Roadside Strange may display advertising through Google AdMob. Google and its advertising partners may process device, advertising, diagnostic and interaction information as described by their own policies and according to your device, regional consent and advertising settings. Premium removes Roadside Strange banner ads from the app.
6. Purchases and subscriptions
Roadside Strange Premium is purchased through the Apple App Store or Google Play. Apple or Google processes payment information. Roadside Strange may receive purchase or entitlement information needed to determine whether Premium features should be available, but does not receive your full payment-card details from the store.
7. Technical and security information
Service providers may process limited technical information needed to provide authentication, database, hosting, app integrity, crash, diagnostic or security functions. This can include device or app information, timestamps, network information and identifiers used to protect the service against abuse.
8. Why information is used
Information is used to provide requested features, authenticate accounts, display and moderate community content, maintain Premium entitlements, provide advertising where applicable, protect users and the service, troubleshoot problems, comply with legal obligations, and improve Roadside Strange.
9. Sharing
Roadside Strange does not sell personal information as a product. Information may be processed by service providers that support app functionality, such as Firebase/Google services, Apple or Google for purchases, and advertising providers for the free ad-supported experience. Information may also be disclosed when required by law or reasonably necessary to protect rights, safety, users or the service.
10. Retention
Account and community information is retained for as long as reasonably necessary to provide the service, moderate content, maintain security, comply with law, resolve disputes or establish legal claims. Local device information remains on your device until removed by the app, by you, or by clearing/uninstalling the app as applicable.
11. Your choices and rights
You can control location permission in device settings, manage store subscriptions through Apple or Google, and request account or personal-data deletion. Depending on where you live, you may also have rights to access, correct, object to or restrict certain processing, or receive information about personal data held about you.

13. Children
Roadside Strange is intended for users age 18 and older and is not directed to children.
14. Changes
This policy may be updated when Roadside Strange changes its features, service providers, legal requirements or data practices. The effective date at the top of this page will be updated when a revised policy is published.
